Moulin de la Veyssière
The last mill in the valley
Founded in 1857 and still family-owned, Moulin de la Veyssière is the last operating mill in the Vern Valley in Périgord, southwest France. The mill uses centuries-old artisanal methods to craft virgin walnut, hazelnut, and almond oils from locally sourced nuts. The nuts are stone-crushed using a traditional flint wheel, gently roasted to unlock their full aromatic profile, and cold-pressed using a traditional hydraulic press powered by the valley’s water.
